New Balance Outdoor National Track and Field Championships in North Carolia:
-Isaiah Harris of Lewiston, won a bronze medal with a time of 1:49.63 in the 800 meters. That smashed the state record in the event.
-Kate Hall of Naples and recent grad Lake Region High School, set a national high school record and an American junior mark with a leap of 22 feet, 5 inches in the long jump.

Boston Red Sox: routed Kansas City, 13-2
--David Ortiz, Hanley Ramirez and Mookie Betts hit HRs.
--Big Papi passed two Hall of Famers, Willie Stargell & Stan Musial, on the career home run chart, with his 476th career round-tripper.
