Colossal Fire Burns Down 122 Year Old Newly Renovated Maine House

A massive and fast-traveling fire destroyed a 122-year-old home in Farmingdale by 1:30 pm on Tuesday, according to Central Maine.

The home is located at 594 Northern Avenue in Farmingdale, Maine, according to the article.

The article states that although no one was living there and no one was hurt there were people working at the house when the fire broke out in the barn.

The house was just purchased a few months ago and according to the article, it was nearing the end of a full renovation.

The house was being flipped by the new owner, John Jaques, who works for Keller Williams Realty as the article states.

Jaques said,

It was looking really good, It was a nice house. It had a tin ceiling. I’d just put a master suite in.

The article also states that the fire looks like it began in the barn and then spread over to the house.

The house was built in the 1900s and Jaques had updated it to a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house, as the article states.

According the to article, the only thing that was left was a burnt and melted structure that once was a wall and vinyl siding.

Amongst the Farmingdale firefighters, were also Gardiner Firefighters as well as a Maine Forest Ranger who assisted according to the article and most of the contents within the house were lost to the fire.

The fire was so colossal that it was easily seen as far away as Augusta, according to the article.

We are still awaiting the cause of the blaze, as the article states,
