Watch Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert + Keith Urban Sing Classic Country Covers at Nashville Burning Man Tour Stop
Dierks Bentley brought some surprise guests with him during his 2019 Burning Man Tour stop at Bridgestone Arena on Friday night (Feb. 22): Both Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert joined Bentley onstage, and together, the trio of country superstars performed a medley of classic hits.
Bentley, Lambert and Urban hadn't rehearsed -- ""This might suck, guys," Lambert admitted -- but after a bit of onstage chatter, the three dove into "some Hank ... Not Hank Jr., not Hank III -- like, old Hank" -- "Your Cheatin' Heart," specifically. Urban and Bentley strummed acoustic guitars as Bentley took lead vocals and the other two added harmonies.
Merle Haggard's "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down," again with Bentley on lead vocals, followed, as did Loretta Lynn's "Blue Kentucky Girl," this time with Urban leading. He and Lambert shared the mic as Bentley sat down onstage, black Solo cup in hand, to enjoy the performance.
"Thank you guys so much! They're gonna take the rest of the show," Bentley joked before the trio concluded with the Dixie Chicks' "Cowboy, Take Me Away." Lambert led while Bentley and Urban backed her up on harmonies and guitar.
"I love it when boys sing girls' songs!" Lambert said emphatically as the trio brought their medley back to Williams' iconic song for the big finish.
Lambert and Urban's onstage cameos were last-minute additions to Bentley's set, he admitted. Bentley had texted Urban to ask, fully expecting him to say no, while Bentley told the crowd that he and his wife and run into Lambert and her new husband, Brendan McLoughlin, while they were out for a walk.
Bentley's 2019 Burning Man Tour features Jon Pardi and Tenille Townes, as well as Bentley's '90s country cover band Hot Country Knights, as special guests. He recently extended the tour through the summer.
