A couple of years ago Disney bought the rights to Star Wars that enables them to plan for future movies and gives them the rights to merchandise and distribution. Now the company has purchased the rights to Indiana Jones from Paramount.

Owning the Jones films will give Disney the right to market and promote any future films in the series. Disney has owned production rights since 2012 but Paramount kept the distribution rights on the four Indie films. Insiders say that having one company own the entire franchise will make the whole process easier.

Harrison Ford said he would return to play Indiana Jones again ‘in a New York minute’.
