Maine & New Hampshire, the Experts Say You Should Set Your A/C to This Temperature
As we continue to deal with a crazy level of inflation, the majority of the country is looking for ways to save money.
We're cutting back on eating out, cutting back on the number of streaming services we subscribe to, and being extra conservative with what we buy at the grocery store. Most of us are also trying our best to cut back on our utility usage.
Of course, we're here to save you money in any way that we can.
For example, during the winter, we told you the best temperature to have your heat set at for maximum efficiency.
Now, as we are staring down a heatwave here in New England, we are helping you choose the best temperature for your air conditioning.
What is the Best Temperature to Set Your Air Conditioning?
According to an article in USA Today, the best temperature for your air conditioning is 78 degrees. The article explains that this guidance is from the United States' Environmental Protection Agency.
Some experts also recommend that, when you are not at home, you should set your A/C to 85 degrees. This will still be cool enough to prevent problems in your home, but will save you a few bucks when you are not home.
Does this temperature seem a little warm? Yeah, it did to us, too. When we polled our coworkers and friends most said they preferred a temperature that was lower than 70 degrees.
It is important to remember that this temperature is not meant to be the most comfortable. It is the temperature that is the most efficient.
Basically, it is meant to keep you comfortable, but not result in you having a $10,000 per month electric bill.
