According to CNN, 2014 will be a new year in more ways than one. Not only will the date change but there will be new trends in food to look forward to. Trends like new pastries, star chefs who have gone green, new beer cuisine and more breweries in hotels.

Here are some of the things that are creating a buzz for the upcoming year:

Neon colored Jell-O shots are expected to be super cool. They could be featured during happy hours for $2 a pop, with different flavored Jell-O shots too, like pudding shots called the Cosby shots.

Thai street food, not necessarily served on the street like hot dog vendors, but cooking that comes from the street of Bangkok like water bug relish or papaya salad.

Cooking meals with coal or wood is another trend that may become big in 2014.

Major Chefs will start to feature more vegan and vegetarian foods hoping to convince people to go meatless at least once a week.

Biscuits are expected to be big this year, too. Breakfast, lunch and dinner biscuits. Not plain biscuits but things like Brisket Biscuits with BBQ hollandaise sauce and fried chicken biscuits.

Sounds like 2014 could be a good year for everyone.
