According to the KJ, General Colin Powell has passed away from complications of COVID-19.

The report of his passing comes from a statement released by his family.

According to Wikipedia, Powell was born in Harlem on April 5th, 1937.  He was raised in the South Bronx and graduated from Morris High School in 1954.  After graduating high school, he attended the City College of New York, where he got a Bachelor of Science in Geology.  Following that, he got his MBA at George Washington University.

Powell was a professional soldier for 35 years, retiring with the rank of General.

From 1989 to 1993, he was the Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff.  During that time, he responded to several major crises, including the invasion of Panama and Operation Desert Shield / Operation Desert Storm.

From 2001 to 2005, he served as the Secretary of State under President George W. Bush.

Following his retirement, Powell wrote his autobiography, which is called My American Journey. Like many politicians, he began working as a public speaker, addressing audiences - both in the United States and around internationally.
