Governor Janet Mills Mandates All Non-Essential Businesses Close

At a press conference this afternoon (March 24), Gov. Janet Mills gave an update on the state's response to the COVID-19 crisis.

During that conference, Mills said she was ordering all non-essential businesses in the state to close their public-facing operations.

This does not include include essential services such as household goods, trash collection, childcare, insurance, banks gas stations etc.

According to the Bangor Daily News, non essentials can still continue without customer, vendor or in person contact, or that require more than 10 people to gather in a space where social distancing isn't possible.

She says she's not telling businesses to fully close, but to shut down the 'physical facing' portions of those businesses.

We understand this can become very confusing in regards to what may still and not still be allowed to operate. For clarity, we've included video of the entire press conference where the announcement was made earlier today.
