Heating oil prices are usually at their lowest during the middle of summer, not this year. The Governor's Energy Office reported that the average price of heating oil has dropped four cents a gallon over the past week.

The average for a gallon of heating oil in the state of Maine is $3.23. That is the lowest heating season price recorded in three years. At this time last year, the average was $3.54 per gallon.

Prices have dropped nearly 30 cents a gallon over the past three months.

Kerosene prices have also dropped to an average of $3.78 a gallon and propane prices dropped two cents a gallon to $2.84.

So, fill your tank now, because you know prices are going to go up once the snow flies!
