According to WMTW, a Maine State Trooper prevented a Maine resident from losing thousands of dollars in a phone scam.

The person received a phone call claiming that one of their family members needed bail money.  The caller requested the person send the money via FedEx.  It was only after the person had sent FedEx envelope, containing thousands of dollars, that it dawned on them that it could be a scam.

Law enforcement was contacted and a Maine State Police trooper tracked the package to a FedEx sorting facility.  The trooper was able to retrieve the package before it went any further.

Officials warn that this is a very common form of scam.  If there is any doubt in your mind that a call is legit, please contact law enforcement.
