I Can’t Believe I Never Noticed Maine Walmarts Had These Before
I have always thought of myself as being a pretty smart guy. However, sometimes, I am amazed at the basic things I fail to notice.
The other day, I was talking to a guy outside Walmart in Augusta. He mentioned that he wasn't sure where he parked.
I told him that my trick was to look at the building when I get out of the vehicle. That way, I have a pretty good idea of what row I am in. If I look at the building and see that yellow star thing, I know I need to be standing under that when I walk back out into the parking lot. He told me he thought that was a good idea and then wandered off to find his vehicle.
A few minutes later, I heard a couple of older women talking about where they parked. The conversation went something like this:
- Woman 1: Ethel, where'd we park?
- Woman 2: Well, Gladys, I think it was out this way.
- Woman 1: No. No, it wasn't. I think we're somewhere in eight.
- Woman 2: Oh yeah. That's right, we're in eight!
They started walking away from the building in the direction of their vehicle. Normally, I don't spend a lot of time listening to other people's conversations, but this one stuck with me. I wondered what they meant by "eight".
Then, I saw it!
There are signs in the parking lot to let you know what row you parked in!
How have I never noticed this before? I knew these existed in the parking lots of big shopping malls and amusement parks, but I had no idea that these were a thing at Walmart stores in Maine.
Please tell me I am not the only one who did not know about these!
