Have You Noticed the Massive Change at Sam’s Club in Augusta, Maine?

If you know me, you know that I love Sam's Club.

Even though I love everything Sam's Club has to offer, from the bakery to the electronics department, my favorite part of Sam's Club is the café.

Even if I never bought anything else in the store, having access to the café would make my annual membership fee worth it.

The food is not just incredibly affordable, it is really good, too.  While their offerings do occasionally vary, the café normally has pizza, hot dogs, pretzels, slushy drinks, and soft-serve frozen yogurt.

The best part of the café is the price.  A family of three can have lunch and ice cream for less than ten dollars!

I was kind of shocked when I realized that they have made a big change at the café inside the Augusta Sam's Club.

A Big Change at the Sam's Club Café

A few days ago, I took my kids to Sam's Club for ice cream and, when I approached the counter, I knew there was something different.  At first, I could not figure out what was different.

Then, it hit me, the POS (point-of-sale) computer was missing from the counter!

The woman behind the counter, clearly noticing that I had kind of a funny look on my face, explained to me that the café had recently gone app-only.

Basically, you now need to use the Sam's Club app in order to order and pay for your food.

Honestly, in some ways, using the app is a lot easier than ordering at the counter.  You can place your order from halfway across the store and it will be ready for you by the time you get to the café.  Or, in my case, I can order my brownie sundae from the parking lot.

The app will also not allow you to order anything that is out of stock.  So, if you only stopped by the café to get a peaches and cream sundae, but they were out of what they needed to make it, it would tell you that it was out of stock.

Are All Sam's Club Cafes App-Only?

Honestly, we are not sure.

A quick search online shows that, for at least the last six months, they have been migrating Sam's Clubs in that direction.  However, we are not sure if they have all been switched, yet.

If you have a membership, it would be worth it to get the app.

The Sam's Club Scan & Go app is useful in so many other ways.

Because I normally only buy a few things at a time, it makes trips to Sam's Club super convenient.  I just can the bar code using the app, SLIDE to pay (using the card on the app), and then show the door people the bar code when I am on my way out of the store.
