Recently, the House Beautiful website put out their list of the most festive Christmas town in the United States.

Considering how traditional we are, it should not be a big surprise that New England held a few of the top spots on the list.

While Saratoga Springs, New York took the top spot, in second place was a well-known, affluent Maine town.

Kennebunkport, Maine

Known for its connection to the rich and powerful (including the Bush family), the Coastal Maine town is also considered to be very "festive".

The article explains that the town has a very New England Christmas celebration.  It goes on to say:

You can watch Santa Claus arrive by lobster boat, go on seashore holiday trolley rides, and enjoy wine tastings and lobster bakes. Not to mention, the town is covered in Christmas lights and garland that make it the perfect festive photo backdrop.

This video gives you a decent look at what the Christmas season is like in Kennebunkport.

Other Festive Christmas Towns In Maine

Personally, I can think of at least a few more Christmas-y towns in Maine.

Freeport, for example, really comes alive during the Holiday season.  Yes, that is largely due to the Christmas shopping, but the town just has a very Christmas feel to it.  The village is beautifully decorated and the LL Bean Christmas events really add a magic to the town.

Also, both Augusta and Waterville have beautifully decorated downtowns during the Holidays.  Augusta celebrates the start of the Holidays with the tree lighting and fireworks.  And, Waterville kicks off their Holiday season with the Parade of Lights.

The Coast of Maine is dotted with great festive Christmas towns.  Rockland, for example, has the Festival of Lights.  And, Camden has Christmas by The Sea.

What Other New England Towns Made The Festive Christmas Town List?

Other New England towns on the list include Mystic, Connecticut, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and Woodstock, Vermont.
