Items You Cannot Bring Into the Fryeburg Fair in Maine
It may be kind of hard to believe, but we have reached the end of Maine fair season.
And, as it has been for decades, the season is set to end with Maine's Blue-Ribbon Class, the Fryeburg Fair.
The fair's website explains that the Fryeburg Fair, which is operated by the West Oxford Agricultural Society, has been part of Maine since 1851. For nearly 200 years, the fair has highlighted the very best of Maine farming traditions and agricultural history. You will find competitions, horse pulls, show horses, horse racing, oxen, steer, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, and sheep.
The fair also features several special events. These include Woodsmen’s Field Day, the Firemen’s Muster, and the always impressive Grand Parade.
Beyond the agricultural side, you can enjoy rides from Dreamland Amusements, food, and entertainment that appeal to every age group.
Each day at Fryeburg Fair brings a wide variety of experiences, making it one of Maine’s most cherished annual traditions.
This year's fair runs from Saturday, September 27th through Sunday, October 5th.
This year's fair is a day longer than it has been in the past. In 2025, it was decided the fair would start on Saturday instead of Sunday.
Tickets for the fair are $15 per person (12+) and you can get a season pass for $115. Kids under 12 are free.
As you prepare for the fair, keep in mind there are a few things you are going to want to leave at home. We've made a list to help you out. Remember, not allowing these items in are meant to make the fair safe for everyone.
Items Banned at the Fryeburg Fair
As was the case in 2024, the fair will feature metal detectors in order to prevent people from sneaking unauthorized items into the event.
