Get ready to sweat, Central Maine! Tuesday is shaping up to be a scorcher with hot and humid conditions pushing feel-like temps into the upper 90s. Actual highs will climb into the low 90s across much of the region.

According to an article from WGME 13, a Heat Advisory is in effect for Coastal York County from 11 AM to 8 PM. They're also calling for light winds out of the west at 5 to 10 MPH which will keep the coastline feeling hotter than many inland areas.

You might notice a hazy sky, too as thin layers of wildfire smoke remain in the atmosphere and could affect air quality. The news station reported that some denser plumes may drift in at times and that smoky haze will likely linger into Wednesday.

Isn't that a fun word to say? Say it with me now won't you? 'Plumes'. Wasn't that fun?

However, relief is on the horizon. WGME reports temperatures will gradually cool down over the next few days. By Wednesday afternoon and evening, we’re looking at a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed Southern Maine in a marginal risk for isolated strong to severe storms. If any storm turns severe, expect gusty to potentially damaging winds.

Not everyone will see rain, but a weak low pressure system to our south may keep Southern Maine wet on Thursday and possibly into Friday. As of now, Thursday holds the best shot at more widespread showers.

Hopefully, despite the threat of rain, we'll still be able to get our Waterfront Wednesday concert with Sharon Hood in tomorrow evening. We will have to keep our fingers crossed.
