The Heat Wave in Maine Shows No Sign of Letting Up

Here in Maine, the summer of 2023 was cooler and very wet.  The same was true for much of New England.  Clearly, this put a damper (no pun intended) on many people’s summer fun.

If you were bummed by last summer’s weather, it looks like we are going to be getting the exact opposite this summer.  So far, this has been one of the hottest summers I have experienced since returning to Maine in 2016.

The heat wave that the Northeast has experienced for the last few weeks will continue through this week.

Before you say it, yes, we understand that the Maine version of a heat wave is nothing like what is felt in parts of the nation.  However, these temperatures still affect us because we are not used to it being this warm for so many days in a row.

According to the National Weather Service, Central Maine will see highs over 80 degrees for at least the next week.

Monday is expected to be sunny and hot, with a high temperature in Central Maine of about 91 degrees.  There is also a good chance that we will see some nasty thunderstorms on Monday afternoon.

Tuesday’s forecast is looking very similar to Monday’s forecast.  It will be sunny and hot with a high temperature of about 91 degrees.  The heat index will make it feel like it is more like 100.  Just like with Monday, there is a good chance that Central Maine will get hit with a thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high of 91 and a chance of showers.

The temperatures will cool down a little toward the end of the week.  Thursday and Friday will both be partly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.

On the coast, it will be a little cooler, but not by much.  On Monday, the coast will see temperatures in the lower 80s, and Tuesday & Wednesday will see temperatures in the upper 80s.  Just like Central Maine, the coast will see partly sunny skies and a chance of showers each day.

Aroostook County has a forecast that is very similar to Central Maine.
