One Maine meteorologist is using the term 'super soaker' when talking about today's rain storm that is pummeling pretty much all of Maine. But how much rain will we be getting? The short answer is, a lot.

Chief Meteorologist, Christian Bridges at WGME 13 has said that much of Maine is going to get drenched throughout the day on Thursday. The rain, which will fall heavy at times, will continue for much of the state into Friday.

The rain, which will be heaviest from Central Maine to the coastline has the possibility of creating minor flooding situations near rivers, streams and other flowing bodies of water. Bridges says that this amount of rain, mixed with the melting snow, is likely to cause some isolated flooding.

Though Bridges says he expects the rainfall to come to an end during the morning on Friday, he explained that some areas may see the precipitation last into the afternoon on Friday.

As far as those pesky flood watches go, most of them are along the immediate Maine coastline, though they do extend inland a little bit so you'll want to keep an eye out if you live or work in any of the green shaded area.

The good news is that the Easter weekend weather is looking much better. Sunshine should return on Saturday and bring seasonal temperatures with it. So toss the ham in the oven and crack a window because it should be pretty nice out!
