Wondering what Christmas movies are the favorites of people in Maine this year?  Well lucky for us, someone did the research to find out.

Casinos.com, of all people, looked at Google Trends data and found which Christmas movies are the most popular in the county and state by state. They sent us their list for Maine, and I'm impressed. Mainers are picking some good Christmas movies here, unlike the weird list from December 8 that had only two from this list.

Let's count 'em down, and we won't stop until we get to the top:

10. The Polar Express

I've never seen the Polar Express. However, I have been on the Polar Express with the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad in Portland. If you've got young kids, it's worth the trip.

9. Miracle on 34th Street

Miracle on 34th Street is a timeless classic. However, in the list provided to us, they don't say which Miracle on 34th Street it is, so we're going to go with the classic, because as far as I'm concerned, nothing can compare.

8. Love Actually

Hey, it's Rick from The Walking Dead. Seven years before he took the role of Rick Grimes on the zombie TV series that ironically won't die, he starred in Love Actually.

7. The Grinch

The list provided to us simply says The Grinch, and the logical assumption is that it is the animated version that played in theaters in 2018, not the Jim Carey live-action version, called How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

6. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

The biggest problem I have with this movie is how this kid's family can forget him on a second trip, then lose him in New York, where he somehow can get on the wrong plane. His parents should be locked up for child neglect.

5. A Christmas Story

Raplhie: "I want an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!"

Santa: "You'll shoot your eye out, kid."

Nuff said.

4. Home Alone

Everyone loves Home Alone, despite the fact these are terrible parents. If it weren't for the wet bandits, you wouldn't have much of a movie here.

3. A Christmas Carol

Another classic. A Christmas Carol adaptation has been sixteen times, but like It's A Wonderful Life, the older 1938 version is the best.

2. It's a Wonderful Life

Like I said, the original is the best.

1. Elf

"SANTA!!!!!!!!! I know him!" This movie is Will Ferrell at his best, and has quickly become a classic.

What's missing that should be on the list? Here are a few: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Scrooged.

Don't say Die Hard. I love the movie, but it's not a Christmas movie. Fight me.
