How much do you know about what the police do? Do you know all the services they provide? Did you know that the Knox County Sheriff delivered buckets of sand to elderly homes to assist with safety. That is just one example of the many services that may be provided by your local police department but may go un-noticed.

According to their Facebook page, The Sheriff of Knox County, Tim Carroll has announced that his department will be hosting a "Citizens Police Academy" next month to help educate the general public on what exactly the police do and inform on the many services they are involved with.

The academy this year will begin on April 22nd, and will continue for 8 weeks. Each of the 8 classes will be 3 hours long from 6pm-9pm and will be located at the South Hope Community Church, which is located on Rt 17 in Hope, 142 Main street to be exact.

The event will follow all CDC recommended guidelines.

If this sounds like something you would like to check out, Sheriff Carroll invites you to submit an application by 4/14/21. Due to attendance size limitations, applications are needed. You can grab one at the Sheriffs office at 301 Park Street in Rockland or CLICK HERE to visit their Facebook page.

Some of the topics covered will be Legal system and laws, Patrol Procedures, Investigations, Police K-9, Impaired driving, even a duty ride along.
