You may remember a story I recently wrote regarding the amazing funding that the Harold Alfond Foundation put forth to help Mainers get trained for and secure better paying employment.

One of those amazing opportunities is coming up this month, October 26th through December 4th at Kennebec Valley Community College where you can be trained as a Heavy Equipment Operator for FREE, that's right the complete course is being offered FREE of charge! Classes will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6pm-9pm at KVCC's Alfond campus.

This is an in-depth LIVE training course that will teach you site safety, basic operational techniques for several heavy equipment types including, loaders and excavators, dump trucks, and even skid steers.

Included in the course will be blueprint reading and refreshers courses for math skills needed related to the job training.

The course will offer both live and simulation training in the operation of these heavy equipment machines. Once your training is complete you will have the skill set to begin a new career as a heavy equipment operator.

In order to qualify you must be a Maine resident, 18 years old or older, and have a high school diploma or it's equivalence.

To apply or get more information on this amazing opportunity, contact KVCC by phone at 207-453-5083 or online at kvcc.me.edu/workforce, or you can also email workforce@kvcc.me.edu

Act soon as registration is on a first come, first serve basis of eligible applicants.
