The Maine bear hunting season starts Saturday (8-25) and it's expected to be a really good season.

Wildlife biologists say they expect bear hunters to have good success because of poor availability of natural foods.

On usnews.com the low abundance of natural food leads to bears coming into civilization looking for food which leads to people calling authorities about bears. There have 450 such calls in Maine through mid-August, and the state normally has 500 such complaints per year.

Maine hunters spend the first few weeks of the season using bait to lure bears. The state bear population's estimated to be more than 36,000.
