The Maine Cheese Festival is coming to Union, Sunday, October 16. Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery is the ideal location to host the festival.

Over 20 Maine Artisan cheesemakers will showcase over 100 varieties of made in Maine cheeses. Wines from Savage Oakes will pair well with the cheese. In addition locally sourced food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.

A band made up of farmers, carpenters and cheese lovers that go by the name ‘Rough Sawn’ will perform classic country, bluegrass and western swing from 1-3.

Other activities include a Q and A with cheesemakers raffles throughout the day and chef demonstrations. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or at mainecheeseguild.org. Kids under 12 attend free. The event is rain or shine.

Maine boasts more cheesemakers per capita than any other state, currently with 81 licensed cheesemakers here in Maine.
