Over the last six months, the people of coastal Maine have seen more than their fair share of flooding.

First, there was the 'Grinch' storm.  Hitting the state days before Christmas, the storm brought serious destruction to many parts of Maine.  Tragically, several people lost their lives during the storm and flooding that followed.

Just weeks later, another round of rain storms caused flooding along Maine's coast in mid-January.  The flooding caused by that storm caused significant damage to many of Maine's most popular beaches, and flooded dozens of businesses in Maine's coastal towns.

While nowhere near as destructive as December and January's storms, the people in coastal Maine have had to deal with several other weather events over the last few months.

It looks like portions of Maine's coast could end up dealing with more flooding this week.

According to an article on the WCSH 6 website, higher-than-normal high tides on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday could lead to flooding in some low-lying coastal areas.

According to researchers from the Gulf of Maine Institute, because there is no storm pushing the tides higher than normal, the flooding won't be as destructive as it was in December and January.  However, it is possible that some areas adjacent to the water, like town docks, could see flooding.

It is advised that if you are in an area that occasionally floods, you should remove or secure items that flood waters could easily move.

The article explains that the highest tides of the month will be at 10:09 p.m. on Tuesday, 11 p.m. on Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:49 p.m.

Fortunately, any flooding will be nowhere as bad as what we saw in December and January.  This video is a good reminder of how bad it can get.
