
Maine DEA Arrests Two on Drug Charges
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, two people with ties to Texas, Maine, and California are facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, agents with the MDEA Mid-Coast Task Force received reports Wednesday about suspicious activity tied to suspected drug trafficking on Vinalhaven Island and aboard the ferry traveling between Vinalhaven and Rockland. Investigators later identified a vehicle believed to be connected to the activity.
Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle in Thomaston, where authorities say a search uncovered 66 grams of suspected cocaine, a .45 caliber handgun, approximately $9,500 in suspected drug proceeds, and other items commonly associated with drug trafficking.
Police arrested 22-year-old Mariah Grover, who is known to reside in both Texas and Maine, and charged her with unlawful trafficking in scheduled W drugs. She was taken to the Knox County Jail and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
Also arrested was 27-year-old Jefferson Jazzir Arias, who is known to reside in Texas and California. Arias was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled W drugs. Officials say he also had extraditable warrants from California for robbery and Texas for theft. Arias is being held on $75,000 cash bail.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
Both are expected to make their initial court appearances on Friday, May 29, 2026.
