The Official 2024 Maine Fair & Festival Schedule

Maine is known for many things.  We are blessed to have hundreds of cool shops, some great restaurants, amazing concert venues, and stellar breweries.

Another thing that we excel at here in Maine is hosting fairs and festivals.  We are home to some of the most well-known events in New England.

The Skowhegan State Fair, for example, is the oldest agricultural fair in the country.  It’s been going strong for over 200 years!

The Damariscotta Pumpkin Festival, held in early October, features the most-unique boat race you will ever see.

And of course, we can’t forget about the Fryeburg Fair.  Maine’s Blue-Ribbon Classic has been going strong for over 160 years.  It is the biggest fair in Maine, and one of the largest in New England.

Here’s the schedule for the majority of 2024 agricultural fairs and festivals.  Keep in mind that in some cases, the dates when this year’s fairs take place have switched dramatically.

Tips for attending Maine fairs and festivals with the family

Wandering a fair or festival with your friends is one thing, but bringing kids to the fair is completely different.  Here are some tips for bringing your littles to the fair:

• Pack for a variety of weather conditions. Just because it is sunny in the morning doesn’t mean you aren’t going to end up dealing with rain in the afternoon.
• Bring snacks and water.  Sure, we all love to fill ourselves with fair food, but having snacks and water means you won’t need to wait in line when your kid gets thirsty or hangry.
• Cover them with sunscreen.  Sunscreen them before you head into the event, but make sure you bring the sunscreen with you.  You'll want to apply more throughout the day.
• Bring that stroller!  Yes, it may be a pain to deal with, but if your kids are little, it is the easiest way to give their little legs a break without having to search for a place to sit down.
• Take a picture of your kids before you go into the event.  That recent photo, showing what the are wearing, will make it easier to spot them if they should come up missing.
