With talk about a polar vortex, ice storms, record cold, 'feels like' temperatures, news many Mainers don't need is that it is costing more to heat our homes. A weekly Maine survey has found that the average price of home heating fuel has climbed to $3.81 a gallon, up 4 cents from last week. The Governor's Energy Office said on Tuesday that kerosene prices also rose 4 cents this past week, to $4.20 a gallon. Propane prices went up 11 cents to $3.17 per gallon.

Propane supplies in Maine have been very tight in Maine due to delayed shipments and increased demand.
