A man from Etna is safe after being lost in the woods for over a day.

According to the KJ, 74 year old Joseph Nolin was dehydrated and suffering from hypothermia when he was found by Game Warden Michael Latti and K-9 Luna on Monday afternoon.

Luna was the real hero who located the missing man.  The KJ article explained that Latti was in the process of searching the Etna bog with Luna when the dog signaled she was on to something. Luna stopped about 200 yards away and barked to signal that she had located Nolin.

After Nolin was located, rescue came in the form of a helicopter.  The article in the KJ explained that Maine Forest Service pilot Chris Blackie landed a helicopter on the floating bog near Nolin so he could be flown to an ambulance. Nolin was examined by emergency service personnel and released after he was rehydrated and warmed up.

After being rescued, Nolin explained that he had gotten turned around during a walk and attempted to walk out until he was so tired he could not walk anymore.  He also said he was sure he would not have survived another night in the elements.
