Maine Pedestrian & Dog Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver, Police Seeking Person Responsible

Police say they are actively searching for the person responsible for hitting a Maine pedestrian and their dog on Monday night in the city of Saco, Maine.

WGME is reporting that the incident took place on Monday evening at about 6 pm. A person that was walking their dog was crossing the road on Lincoln Street in Saco when an oncoming vehicle struck both the person and the dog.

Responding officials told WGME that the victim was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of a leg injury. The dog was subsequently taken to a local emergency vet clinic for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Police say following the hit-and-run, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene in the direction of Boom Road. Officials report that the suspect was driving a light-colored vehicle, small in size, that likely has driver-side damage. It's not clear if the damage was already there or was sustained in the crash.

Currently there is no word on the conditions of the driver and the dog, though we wish them both the best in their recovery.
