Parts of Maine Could See 65+ MPH Wind Gusts on Friday
Yesterday, we told you that Maine was likely to get slapped by a nasty storm on Friday. This storm was expected to bring lots of rain and high winds to most of the state.
Now, we have an update on the conditions that we will be dealing with today.
According to an article on the WGME website, some parts of Maine could see wind gusts in-excess of 65 miles per hour!
The article explains that the mid-coast will see gusts of between 55 MPH and 65 MPH. In Central Maine and Eastern Maine, we could see gusts of up to 55 MPH. Western Maine could see gusts of up to 45 MPH. However, there are some spots near Fryeburg that are likely to see 55 MPH gusts.
Maine will be pummeled by rain throughout the day, too. Most of the state will get somewhere between half an inch and an inch of rain. The experts are saying that it won't be enough to flood rivers, but smaller bodies of water could see some flooding.
Not surprising, many of Maine's ski areas have announced that, due to the high winds, they will not be open today. These include Lost Valley, Saddleback Mountain, and Pleasant Mountain. Read the latest updates HERE.
