Central Maine Animal Shelter Waiving Cat Adoption Fees
Whether you are a dog person or a cat person, there is no denying that our pets are a part of our family.
If you’ve got a pet, you already know that they’re not just animals. They’re family. Whether it’s the tail wags, the purring snuggles, or just the way they greet you like you’ve been gone for a year (even if it was five minutes), pets make our homes feel whole.
Our furry loved ones are there for the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
If you have been considering adding a cat to your family, you are going to want to make a visit to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.
According to an article on the WCSH 6 website, because of the number of available cats the shelter has, between now and August 3rd, the shelter is waiving the adoption fees on cats (six months and older).
This means you can bring home a fully vetted feline—spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ready to nap in your lap or by a window flooded by sunbeams—for exactly zero dollars. The normal fee for adopting a cat is between $50 and $150.
The article quotes KVHS Executive Director Hillary Roberts as saying:
We’ve already taken in more than 900 cats this year, including 200 more than at this point last year. Our shelter is filled with affectionate, playful, and resilient cats who deserve a second chance.
As of the writing of this article, available cats include a little black cat named Mischief (6 years), Mrs. Patches (4 1/2 years), Paw Safe (1 1/2 years), and Wildberry (1 1/2 years).
