You may remember Deanna Rix from Marshwood High School; in 2005 she made a big splash in Maine when she nearly won the high school state wrestling championship competing against boys.

She is now Deanna Betterman, 28 years old, married with two children and living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is focused on making the U.S. Olympic women’s wrestling team for the summer games in Rio de Janeiro.

The U.S. Olympics trials will be held April 9-10 in Iowa City, Iowa and her weight class is loaded with talent and only the winner gets an Olympic berth. Four years ago Betterman was headed for the Olympic trails but a couple of months before she found out she was pregnant.

She has been involved in wrestling since she was 4 years old (her dad Matt Rix was Marshwoods wrestling coach) and she now teaches an Elite Wrestling Club in Colorado Springs.

She is not sure if she will continue competing after this year but as of now she is planning on this being her last one.
