I LOVE THIS IDEA.  The kids Mount View Middle School in Thorndike are attempting to visit every state park in the Pine Tree State this year.

According to the Associated Press the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry says the students got started in early February by picking up park passports and maps from Commissioner Walt Whitcomb.

Maine has 48 state parks and historic sites located ALL over Maine. The students are visiting the parks as part of the "I Know ME" program and are sponsored by The Game Loft in Belfast. The Game Loft is a 4-H program open to all children.

The state began its "Park Passport Program" in 2010. The state says there are more than 200,000 passports in circulation.
