My Favorite Sweethearts- My Parents
In continuing to spotlight the letters home from my father to my mother while he was in the Army, I am spotlighting a letter from February 16, 1958. The closest I could find to Valentine's Day. Ironically there is no mention of this holiday in the letter. In this one it appeared my mother was upset that she hadn't gotten any letters from my father.
I was recently asked what I wanted for Valentine's Day. It didn't take me long to respond with the answer...a letter. Baubles and flowers are wonderful, but what I want is something more intangible yet immeasurably more valuable...a gift of thoughts and emotions and ones self. The other things I can buy for myself but your words and feelings are a true gift.
