Miracle-Maine Long-Term Care Facility Hasn’t Had A Case Of COVID
Some of those most vulnerable to the COVID-19 coronavirus have been our aging parents and grandparents. Not only are they more likely to become seriously ill (or pass away) from the virus, but they are often confined in places where the virus can possibly spread like wildfire. In some cases, we've seen the virus tear through nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
Which is what makes this story miraculous.
According to News Center Maine, since the start of the pandemic, Bath's Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation has not had one case of COVID-19!
The facility has 67 residents and 75 staff members.
According to staff, one of their secrets to success is always being on guard, Staff and patients are constantly being screened and the staff gets tested every two weeks. The facility's residents are only tested if they are showing symptoms or if they are brought to the facility from elsewhere.
Earlier today (January 7th), residents and staff got their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
I think I speak for everyone when I say thank to the entire staff of the facility, and nurses everywhere, for all they do for the vulnerable members of our population.
