With Halloween just a few weeks away, many of us are breaking out the horror, sci-fi, and thriller movies.  Some old school networks have horror movie marathons and many of the streaming services have Halloween-themed movie categories.

Did you ever wonder what the most popular Halloween movies are in New England?

An article posted on Wish Listed has a breakdown of the most popular "Halloween" movie in each state.

Focusing on New England:

MAINE "Misery" - It only makes sense that the most popular scary movie for Mainers would be based on a Stephen King book, right?  The movie, which stars James Caan and Kathy Bates, is about an best selling author who is kept hostage by an obsessed fan.

MASSACHUSETTS "Jaws" - While the movie about a killer great white shark was set in Maine, it was actually filmed on the tourist island of Martha's Vineyard.

NEW HAMPSHIRE "Fear Street 1978" - It is kind of surprising to see this newer horror / slasher movie on the list.  The movie, which only came out a few years ago, was part of a trilogy of movies that was based on the RL Stine Fear Street books.  Although, the movies were a lot more adult than the books.

VERMONT "They Live" - The 1980s classic, starring wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper, is all about a man who finds a special pair of sunglasses that let him see the aliens who are attempting to keep the population of the Earth subdued.  Like a lot of movies from the 1980s, it is both terrible and great at the same time.
