The man charged with the murder of an 82-year-old Scarborough man has now been accused of assaulting a corrections officer while he was being taken to court.

According to WMTW, Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce said Quinton Hanna was on his way to an appearance in Cumberland County Court today (Dec. 19) when the alleged assault occured. The officer, who was not identified, has taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The story said Hanna's court appearance was delayed because of the incident, when he did appear, he did not enter a plea and is being held without bail.

In addition to the charges stemming from today's assault, Hannah is facing charges of murder in connection with the stabbing death of James Pearson in Scarborough. He is also facing charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with separate attacks on two women  in West Bath on the same say Pearson was killed.
