A new land speed record has been set by Mike Newman from England. He drove a modified 1200 horsepower Nissan GT-R at 200 miles per hour, not that fast you say? Mike is blind! It’s a world record for land speed for a blind person.

The event was held to draw attention to a charity he runs for the visually impaired called ‘Speed of Sight’. He was alone in the car but followed by his Father in another car radioing him instructions.

The previous record was 185 mile per hour and Newman was the owner of that record. During his record breaking run on an airport runway in England he did have to realign himself at the 1.9 mile marker at a speed of 150 miles per hour, with the help of his father, he did, and then accelerated to 200 miles per hour to break the record.
