The last few days in Maine have been cold and it looks like the mercury is really going to nose-dive as we enter the weekend.

According to an article in USA Today, the Polar Vortex will blast much of the Midwest and Northeast with frigid air over the next few days.

Weather.com is reporting that Central Maine will see a low of -6 on Friday night.  That's before you factor in the wind chill and we are expecting some significant winds on Friday evening.

The daytime temperature on Saturday will rise to a whopping 6 degrees and it will fall back to -7 on Saturday night.  Again, this is before you factor in the wind chill.

Temperatures will rise a little bit on Sunday and Monday, but not by much.  You can expect a high both days that is in the mid-teens.  And, the overnights will still be damn cold!

Farther north, in Aroostook County, you can expect a low of -12 on Friday night and a low of -15 on Saturday night.

Temperatures in the Portland area won't be nearly as bad.  The overnight low on Friday will be -3 and the overnight low on Saturday will be 0.

Keep in mind that we could see some mixed precipitation from Winter Storm Fern on Sunday or Monday.  When we know more about how it will affect us we will pass that information on to you.
