According to WABI, police have blocked off State Street in Presque Isle, stopping any traffic from getting through.

Police have not said if the action is in related to the search for two shooting suspects in the town from yesterday (Sept. 9).

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, the two men are being sought in connection with a shooting in Presque Isle early Monday morning.

McCausland said police are searching form Jomo White, 31, of Atlanta, GA. McCausland said White is a black male, 6’0, 220 pounds, black hair, brown eyes..  White may have shaved his head and/or beard to change his appearance, McCausland said.

The second suspect is Jason Alexander, 44, of Blaine, McCausland described him as a white male, 5’9, 220, brown hair, blue eyes.

Both men should be considered armed and dangerous, McCausland said.

Anyone with information on the men’s whereabouts should call State Police in Houlton at 532-5400, Presque Isle Police at  764-4476, or Aroostook County CRIME STOPPERS at (800) 638-8477.  CRIME STOPPERS is offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these two suspects.  Anyone found to have aided either of these men in evading arrest will be subject to prosecution.

The shooting was reported at 5:47 a.m., when the victim called 911 reporting that he had been shot on Northern Road in Presque Isle.

McCausland said officers arrived on scene and began administering first aid to the man until the Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance arrived.  The victim was taken to A.R. Gould hospital where he underwent surgery and was later life-flighted to Northern Maine Light Health in Bangor where he remains in critical condition.
