
Police Standoff In Buckfield, Maine

According to a press release from the Maine State Police:
When Troopers attempted to make contact with Daniel Sweetser, 34, of Buckfield, he answered the door carrying an ax. Troopers withdrew and called for assistance. The on-duty Sergeant made contact with the man over the phone and he agreed to come out peacefully. He was arrested and was transported to Kennebec County Jail.
According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, there are several law enforcement agencies at the scene of a reported standoff in the small Maine town of Buckfield.
At around 1 PM, Maine State Police troopers and Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to 50 Tucker Road in Buckfield.
In the last few hours, additional law enforcement officers arrived on the scene. Additionally, firefighters and medical technicians were on the scene.
Several roads in the area, including Darnit Road and Hammond Hill Road, have been shut down to prevent people from driving into the area.
It is still not clear exactly what the situation is.
