It has been extremely cold here in Maine and it hasn’t been any different all across the country, in fact it’s been so cold in Kentucky, a prisoner escaped from jail and returned the next day to turn himself back in. At a minimum security facility in Lexington, Kentucky, 42 year old Robert Vick escaped from Blackburn Correctional Center.

Wild chill readings were 20 below zero when he walked out of the prison dressed only in prison-issued pants, shirt and jacket. When he realized he was not dressed for the weather he faced, he walked into a motel and asked the clerk to call the police so he could go back to prison.

The Lexington Fire Department treated him for hypothermia and returned him to jail Tuesday morning. No one at the prison was surprised he turned himself back in; it was just too cold to be on the outside.
