Every state across the country is filled with some of the most popular fast-food chains in America. From McDonald's to Burger King to Subway and Chipotle, finding food served up quick generally isn't that difficult in Maine.

But what is a little trickier to find is a place that serves up delicious food quickly that isn't one of those big nationwide chains. LoveFood decided to scour the country in search of just that, the best independent fast-food restaurant in every state across the nation. What they came up with for Maine shouldn't surprise anyone that has visited.

LoveFood named Rapid Ray's in Saco as Maine's best independent fast-food restaurant. Since it opened way back in 1953, Rapid Ray's has had a connection with locals to Biddeford and Saco, as well as the summertime visitors that come through the area.

LoveFood pointed to the fact that Rapid's Ray has maintained a small menu over the course of seven decades as a way to keep the food delicious and coming out quickly. The burgers and dogs at Rapid Ray's are the stuff of legend, but don't sleep on a few other menu items either.

It is Maine, so there's seafood on the menu. LoveFood took a liking to Rapid Ray's clam cakes as well as their extra-buttery lobster roll. Don't miss a chance to crush some of their fries and onion rings. It's all good at Rapid Ray's, and it all happens fast.

As Saco and Biddeford continue to grow with new restaurants, breweries, and other attractions, one thing has remained the same for generations: the fast, quality food at Rapid Ray's.
