According to WABI TV 5, a quick-thinking officer from the East Millinocket Police Department thwarted a car theft not long after it had been reported.

In the early hours Saturday morning, East Millinocket Police Officer, Jesse Gee, was out on patrol when he noticed a vehicle that was idling in a driveway on Cedar Street. He quickly realized that it matched the description of a previously reported stolen vehicle.

A person standing next to the vehicle began walking towards the officer but then quickly turned the other way. The officer then pulled the car over and questioned the driver who told Officer Gee that he had permission to drive the car.

After confirming with the car's owner that the suspect did not in fact have permission, he was taken into custody. 22-year-old Zachary Reynolds has been charged with theft by unauthorized use of property as well as operating after suspension.
