A child, and two adults, were injured while playing in the pool at a Maine campground.

According to News Center Maine, they received an electric shock while playing in the pool at the Cold River Campground in Eddington on Monday afternoon.

The three people who were injured were taken to the hospital, but are reportedly doing okay.  The child was an eight year old boy.  The adults were an older person and younger woman who jumped in the water to help.

There were other people in and around the pool at the time of the incident, but none of them were injured.

The campground's pool remains closed while authorities investigate what caused the electrical shock.  The Maine State Electrical Inspector is leading the investigation. Versant Power and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation.

While being electrocuted in a pool is a very rare occurrence, you should always be mindful of other hazards in and around your pool.  Have proper flotation devices on hand and never leave children unsupervised at any pool.
