Maine Woman Hit By Skowhegan Plow on Wednesday Morning Identified
If you needed to be at work early this morning, you probably quickly realized that nearly every other vehicle on the road was a plow.
While we did not get a lot of precipitation, there was a lot of scraping and sanding that needed to be done in order to make the streets and roads safe for travel.
Sadly, it looks like one Central Maine plow struck and injured a pedestrian in Skowhegan early this morning.
According to the KJ, 31-year-old Sierra Trabue was injured while walking along Madison Avenue in Skowhegan. At about 6:30 on Wednesday morning, Trabue was walking north at the edge of the northbound lane of the street. The article explains that she was clipped by a plow mounted to the Skowhegan Highway Department truck.
Trabue was taken to the hospital with a probable broken arm and an injury to her forehead. We all hope she makes a quick recovery.
It is unclear why Trabue had been walking in the street instead of using the sidewalk, but there had been recent complaints to the town that Skowhegan's sidewalks were not always being properly cleared. In fact, this is had been discussed at a recent town council meeting.
If you have been thinking about making the move to a more walkable town or city, Redfin recently put together a list of the most pedestrian-friendly cities and towns in Maine. You can check out the list HERE.
