One of the really great things about pizza is how many varieties there are.  Thin crust, deep dish, all meat, vegetarian, basic, fancy...  You get the idea.  Everyone makes it a little different and everyone likes their pizza a little different.

On top of that, because of how easy it is to prepare, it is widely available.  And, sometimes, you find the best pizza in the most unexpected places.

For example, some of the best pizza we have found is served at a snack bar inside a casino.

Inside Bangor's Hollywood Casino you'll find the Take 2 Snack Bar.  Located adjacent to the gaming floor and next to the Hops House 99 restaurant, the snack bar looks a little like the deli counter at a convenience store.  The snack bar has a few tables and a cooler filled with grab-n-go items.  At one end of the counter are a pair of touch screen computer terminals where you can order your pizza.

This is not your ordinary snack bar pizza, either.  This is gourmet pizza that is a real experience.  It is thin crust and cooked in such a way that it almost seems like it is wood-fired.  When you order, you get to pick your crust (regular or beer), you pick your sauce (Red, Pesto, White, or Garlic Oil), you pick your cheese (including the regular five cheese blend or fresh mozzarella), and you pick your toppings.  They have everything from pepperoni, to chicken, to red onions, and spinach.

Not only is this pizza good it is also really cheap, too.  A large 2 topping is only $14.  Is it the cheapest?  No.  But, we have had much more expensive pizza that was not nearly as good.

Also, it is quick.  It took about 10 minutes from the time I ordered it until it was ready to be taken back to my room.

The snack bar is open Thursday through Sunday from 4 PM to 11 PM.
