Here’s something that may warm you up during this extreme cold weather, relaxing in a ‘sauna’ may be good for your heart. A study out of Finland found that men who use a sauna on a regular basis are less likely to die from heart disease.

Cardiologist have discouraged their patients from using a sauna, fearing the heat puts too much demand on the cardiovascular system, but with this new study they may have to reconsider. The research did showed improved heart health of those studied but their not completely sure why. It may be those who use a sauna are interested in a healthier lifestyle already. Using a sauna does increase your heart rate so some doctors think it may be a form of exercise for the heart muscle.

In the study, it seems the longer, and more often, you spend in the sauna, the less likely you are for heart related death.
