The Maine Mariners have officially unveiled their new logo that the franchise will use when the new team hits the ice... and let us be the first to say that it looks WICKED cool!
Portland’s new hockey team will take the name of the hockey team that played in the city from 1977 to 1992 in the American Hockey League.
Portland’s new hockey team is coming together. Recently, the team, which will play out of the city’s Cross Insurance Arena opened up their website for name suggestions. Well, it looks like there are five finalists.
Mariners (also the name of Portland’s original pro hockey team)
Watchmen (decent, but semi creepy)
Wild Blueberries (now really, WHO submitted this one?)

While we work through the swamp days of July, Maine hockey fans have something to look forward to this upcoming season, the fact there will BE one! After the Pirates moved out of state, officials have been looking for a replacement. They've found one in the ECHL.
