It should come as no surprise that the next 24 hours or so here in New England are going to be a whirlwind weather-wise (no pun intended). Just kidding, pun totally intended.
You might be thinking this is an old story if you're familiar with the fact that it has been Maine policy for years that electric utilities like CMP cannot turn Maine resident's power off during the winter months
Though the majority of outages have been restored, there are still thousands in the state that are in the dark.
According to the CMP outage map, there were 3,552 customers without power as of 5:45 AM on 2/28/20. The majority of those outages are in Franklin County and the majority of those outages were in the town of Phillips...
With reports of flooding, closed streets, and other emergencies, the seacoast is battling another Nor'easter. However, the Portland Police Department made a humorous discovery this morning.
The power is out... and it might not come back for days. CMP estimates that most Mainers should have power back by Saturday - but what do you do in the meantime?
Those bad, bad storms yesterday did a number at our house. During the storm, we watched the lightning and the rain coming in sideways. Then I realized we had to close a few windows...OOPS!
But around 4:30, we weren't smiling.
We lost power.
