The United Way of Anchorage, Alaska organized an event to bring awareness to homelessness in the city and they set a world record in the process.

Colorado resident Scott Jurek set a new world record in hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 46 days, eight hours. That beats the previous record held by Jennifer Pharr Davis by three hours.

Adrianna Lewis will soon be in the Guinness Book of World records for having the worlds ‘longest tongue’.  Lewis, 18, has a tongue that is 4 inches long, so long she can lick her eye.

One event that took place at this past weekend’s Daytona 500 that didn’t get a lot of publicity was a bacon eating contest. It too place before the race started and new world record was set.

Brian Spotts of Denver, Colorado is a world record holder in ‘egg balancing’. This week, he is headed to China to try and break a world record live on TV. This month in Shanghai he will attempt to balance a dozen eggs in less than 75 seconds.

In an effort to show citizens of Minnesota how much paper they waste and how important recycling is, they set a new world record. They made the largest paper ball ever assembled. In keeping with Guinness World Records guidelines, no adhesives or tape was used.

French rally-car driver Guerlain Chicherit attempted to set a new record for longest ramp jump of all time, but it ended in a horrific crash—all of it captured on GoPro video.

The oldest cat in the world lives on the south coast of England, Poppy is 24 years old. In human years that’s 114. Poppy has lived long enough to see five prime ministers. The cat, a moggy, was officially named by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Punjab Youth Festival in Lahore, Pakistan had a world record broken. It was a world record where ‘broken’ was the key word. It was breaking walnuts, 155 to be exact, 155 walnuts broken in one minute without using any tools.

Rob Dyrdek, who stars in MTV’s Fantasy Factory and has broken 21 skateboarding records including the longest board slide, has another record to his credit. It wasn’t a skateboard record this time; it was a car jumping record…backwards! It was the farthest reverse ramp jump over a car clearing 89 feet and three quarter inches.

Bryan, Texas, 90 miles northwest of Houston, is the home of the Guinness World Records gingerbread house. The house broke the record for a confectionary construction.  It covers 2,520 square feet, about the size of a tennis court, and is 21 feet high and has 35.8 million calories.

Kim Medford sat down to eat her lunch from Arby’s in Asheville, North Carolina and noticed an unusually long curly fry, in fact, a World Record French Fry. The current world record for longest curly fry is 34 inches held by two men in Buffalo, New York. Hers is 38 inches long, breaking the old mark by 4 inches and she is currently looking into submitting it for world record consideration. Read Mor

81-year old Richard 'Dick' G. Austin of Rumford, Maine just won his eight world title this past Tuesday. He was at Bally's Resort and Casino in Las Vegas competing in the World Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships. Austin was competing in the 220-pound class Master Division, for powerlifters ranging in age from 80 to 84.

Ricahrd 'Dick' G. Austin, 81, of Rumford,Maine has won every powerlifting competition he's entered in his 68-year career! This November, he'll compete in the 220 pound class in the Master Division (ages 80-84) in the World Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships at Bally's/Paris Resort in Las Vegas
